Call Transcription in HighLevel

Updated: March 19, 2026  |  Author:

HighLevel Call Transcription automatically converts recorded call audio to text after the call ends. Transcriptions appear on the contact’s record and in the call activity log. Call content becomes searchable and reviewable without replaying audio. AI call summaries extract key points from the transcription – identifying the call outcome, next steps, and conversation highlights. Call Transcription is particularly valuable for sales teams reviewing their own calls and for managers coaching team members on call quality.

How Call Transcription Works

HighLevel records calls when call recording is enabled for the LC Phone number. After the call ends, the recording is automatically transcribed to text.

The transcription appears on the contact’s activity timeline alongside the call recording – both the audio and the text version are accessible from the same view.

Transcription accuracy depends on audio quality, accent clarity, and background noise. Most clear conversations transcribe with high accuracy.

AI Call Summaries

Beyond raw transcription, HighLevel’s AI layer generates a summary of the call – extracting the key points, the caller’s stated need, any commitments made, and the suggested next step.

The AI summary appears alongside the transcription on the contact record, giving team members a quick overview of what happened on the call without reading the full transcript.

AI summaries also enable automatic note creation – the call summary can be posted as a note on the contact record, building the contact’s history automatically from every recorded conversation.

Using Transcription for Team Coaching

Sales managers and team leads can review call transcriptions without listening to every recording – scanning the text for specific language, objection handling, and conversation quality.

Keyword search across transcriptions identifies patterns – how often team members mention competitors, whether they ask for the close, and what objections arise most frequently.

Pairing transcription review with specific coaching feedback – sharing a timestamped excerpt from a call with a team member – is more efficient than asking team members to re-listen to full recordings.
