RCS Messaging in HighLevel (Beta)
Updated: March 19, 2026 | Author: Bill Stilwell
HighLevel RCS (Rich Communication Services) Messaging is a next-generation SMS format that supports images, interactive buttons, carousels, and verified sender branding – delivered through the same phone number as standard SMS but with a richer visual experience on supported Android devices. RCS is currently in beta in HighLevel. When a recipient’s device and carrier support RCS, messages are delivered with the enhanced format. When they don’t, messages fall back to standard SMS. Configure RCS in the Phone Numbers settings for LC Phone numbers on supported configurations.
What RCS Adds Over Standard SMS
Standard SMS is text-only with basic emoji support. RCS messages can include: high-resolution images, action buttons (tap to call, tap to book, tap to view), carousels of products or offers, and read receipts.
RCS messages also display the verified business name and logo as the sender – replacing the anonymous phone number with a recognizable brand identity.
The user experience of RCS is closer to a branded chat app than traditional SMS – making it more engaging and interactive for the recipient.
RCS Availability and Fallback
RCS requires device and carrier support – currently most robust on Android devices with Google Messages. iPhone support is expanding but varies by carrier and iOS version.
When RCS is not available for a recipient, HighLevel automatically falls back to standard SMS – the same message is delivered as a plain text message.
This fallback means RCS can be enabled without excluding any contacts – all contacts receive the message, with enhanced formatting for those whose devices support it.
