Custom Objects in HighLevel
Updated: March 19, 2026 | Author: Bill Stilwell
HighLevel Custom Objects let agencies and businesses extend the CRM beyond the standard Contact and Company records. Create custom object types – Projects, Properties, Vehicles, Orders, or any entity relevant to the business – with their own custom fields and relationships to contacts. Custom Objects are configured in Settings and appear as their own section in the CRM. They enable businesses with specialized data needs to model their operations within HighLevel without forcing every data point into the Contact record.
What Are Custom Objects in HighLevel?
Custom Objects are user-defined record types beyond the standard Contact and Company objects in the CRM.
A real estate agency might create a Property object – each property has its own record with address, listing price, status, and photos – linked to the Contact records of the buyer and seller.
A home services company might create a Project object – each job has a record with scope, materials, timeline, and photos – linked to the customer contact.
Creating and Configuring Custom Objects
Custom Objects are created in Settings. Define the object name, icon, and the custom fields that each record of that type should have.
Each Custom Object field can be a text field, number, date, dropdown, file upload, or other field type – the same types available for Contact Custom Fields.
After creating the Custom Object type, create relationships – connecting the Custom Object to Contact records or Company records. A Property object can be linked to a buyer contact, a seller contact, and a listing agent contact simultaneously.
Custom Objects vs. Custom Fields
Custom Fields extend the data stored on an existing Contact or Company record. Custom Objects create an entirely new record type with its own data.
Use Custom Fields when the data is about the contact (their industry, their contract renewal date). Use Custom Objects when the data is about a separate entity that has its own lifecycle – a property that exists independently of any single contact.
