Data Export in HighLevel

Updated: March 19, 2026  |  Author:

HighLevel Data Export allows downloading contact lists and other CRM data as CSV files. Export from the Contacts section by filtering to the desired contact set (using Smart Lists or manual filters) and selecting the export option. The CSV includes all standard contact fields and Custom Fields. Data export is used for backup, for feeding external analytics tools, for sharing data with other systems, and for migration to or from HighLevel.

How to Export Contacts in HighLevel

In the Contacts section, filter or select the contacts to export. Options include exporting all contacts, exporting a filtered view, or exporting a Smart List.

Click the export button – typically in the actions menu or the page header. HighLevel generates a CSV file with the contact data.

The exported CSV includes standard contact fields (first name, last name, email, phone, address) plus any Custom Fields configured in the sub-account.

What Gets Exported

Standard contact data exports cleanly: name, email, phone, address, and metadata like date created and last activity.

Custom Fields configured in the sub-account are included in the export – the exported CSV reflects the same data structure as the contact record.

Communication history (SMS text content, email content, call recordings) is not included in a contact CSV export – those are accessible from the contact record and the Conversations Inbox but are not part of the bulk export format.

Export Use Cases

Regular data exports serve as a backup – a local copy of the contact database that is independent of the HighLevel platform.

Exports feed external analytics tools – Google Sheets, Excel, or BI platforms that analyze the contact data in ways not available within HighLevel’s reporting.

Migration to or from HighLevel requires a data export – the CSV from HighLevel is the migration file that carries contact data to the new system.
