Instagram Messaging Integration in HighLevel

HighLevel Instagram Messaging Integration connects Instagram Business account DMs to the Conversations Inbox. When customers send direct messages to the business’s Instagram account, those messages appear in HighLevel alongside SMS, email, and other channels. Team members can respond from HighLevel without switching to the Instagram app. The integration requires a Facebook Page connected to the Instagram Business account – both are connected through the Meta (Facebook) integration in HighLevel Settings.
How Instagram Messaging Integration Works
Instagram Business accounts must be linked to a Facebook Page in Meta’s Business Manager. The HighLevel Facebook integration, when properly configured, also connects the linked Instagram account.
Once connected, Instagram DMs from customers appear as conversations in the Conversations Inbox with the Instagram channel indicator.
Reply to Instagram DMs from the HighLevel Conversations Inbox – the reply is delivered to the customer’s Instagram DM.
Setting Up Instagram in HighLevel
In HighLevel Settings, then Integrations, connect the Facebook Page. During the connection, select the linked Instagram Business account as well.
If the Instagram account is not appearing during connection, verify in Meta Business Manager that the Instagram account is properly linked to the Facebook Page.
After connection, test by sending a DM to the connected Instagram account from a personal account and confirming it appears in the HighLevel Conversations Inbox.
Managing Instagram Conversations
Instagram conversations in HighLevel create contact records – the Instagram user who DMs the business becomes a contact, or is matched to an existing contact if the name matches.
Assign Instagram conversations to team members the same as any other conversation type.
Instagram’s messaging policies apply – certain message types have time windows and template requirements similar to WhatsApp. Review Meta’s current Messenger Platform policies for Instagram messaging rules.
